2016 – 2017 CAPE GOLF TOURS

Let DMC Sports Travel in South Africa help with your golf holiday. As a Destination Management Company based in Cape Town we have the experience and knowledge to help make your visit to South Africa a very memorable one. Please see below an example of a nine day package within Cape Town. If you would like to see more of South Africa why not let us put together the best Gourmet Golf Tour you have ever been on!

Dear Dusty,

We have just returned home to Australia after a month of tremendous hospitality, unforgettable golf courses and exhilarating safari experiences.

The program and packages you put together for our group have been the best we have experienced and that includes similar packages in the USA to The Masters, Pinehurst and Myrtle Beach. To Ireland, England and Scotland for The Open and The Dunhill.

To have played on nine of the top courses South Africa has to offer was a challenge and a delight.  The accommodation and gourmet experiences you put together gave us excellent value for money. As one member of our group said at Camp Bay during the Sunset dinner and after our round at Steenberg GC “When you don’t think it can get any better …it does!”

All the best for the future,  please keep us informed of future packages as I’m sure many of our friends will be interested in golfing South Africa after they have heard of our experience.

Kind regards,

Nestled in the pristine and tranquil Silvermine Valley close to Fish Hoek in Cape Town lies Clovelly Country Club. With one of the finest golf courses in South Africa, Clovelly offers its members and visitors a memorable experience.

Visitors from as far as Thailand and Ireland frequent the fairways, and tour groups from far flung corners of the world regularly repeat their visits because of the golfing experience to be enjoyed in the pristine valley.

Famous for its rolling, computer-irrigated fairways and undulating holes, Clovelly complements its rich coastal environment. Natural sand dunes about the course, which is blessed with water features and a wide variety of indigenous fauna .

This easy to walk, 18 hole Par 72 golf course is characterised by the towering trees, which line many of its fairways. Westlake has a very interesting, yet user-friendly design and quite a few doglegs. If you manage to stay out of the trees, you will achieve a good score. From the first to the eighteenth hole, every step affords panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

A main characteristic of this course is the openness of its layout. The fairways are fairly wide and short and this, provided you stay out of trouble, makes for a potentially low scoring round. This user friendly design is a course that anyone can enjoy whatever their handicap. Accuracy off the tee will always be rewarded by a clear shot to the greens. The kikuyu fairways are boarded by shrubs and a variety of trees including the massive Port Jackson that towers over golfers and fairways alike.

Erinvale Golf Club is nestled at the foothills of the Helderberg and Hottentot Holland mountains in Somerset West near Cape Town is one of South Africa’s great golfing challenges. Situated in the beautiful wine region, Erinvale’s breathtaking mountain and sea views are an integral part of this unforgettable golfing experience.

Hosts of the 1996 World Cup of Golf in which thirty two participating nations competed. This is an estate course of two distinctly different nines. The front nine is on the flat, winding between the many houses in this part of the estate, while the back nine climbs up the lower slopes of the magnificent Helderberg mountain, with breathtaking views of the coastline from the top holes

Royal Cape Golf Club is the oldest club in South Africa and their classic championship golf course was first played in 1906.

The South African Open has been hosted ten times here, the first in 1910 and the most recent in 1996 when Ernie Els birdied the last three holes to win by one shot. Gary Player won in 1965 when he became the first player to break 70 in all four rounds. His four-round total of 273 (69 68 67 69) was also a record for the event.

Metropolitan Golf Club was reconstructed and opened for play in May 2010. Lying in the shadow of Table Mountain and the 2010 Football World Cup Stadium.

With long and or separate tees, together with 14 Greens, the course plays very much like an 18 hole layout. The large greens and wide fairways make the course very playable for the average amateur while still a test for the lower handicapper. The view playing the 12th hole with the ocean and Mouille Point Light House as a backdrop will leave you with a lasting impression.
